Curriculum and Graduation Requirements
Graduation requirements exceed those set forth by the University System of Georgia, the College Preparatory Curriculum for Admissions to four-year colleges and universities and for the HOPE Scholarship College Preparatory Diploma.
- A minimum of 27 units and a full course load of study (grades 9 through 12) are required for graduation from Mount Vernon Presbyterian School (18 core, 5 other required, and 4 electives) for the following students:
- A student who attends MVPS for four years of high school study or
- A student who transfers to MVPS during his/her freshman or sophomore year of study
- A minimum of 23 units and a full course load of study for each year enrolled at MVPS are required for graduation from Mount Vernon Presbyterian School (18 core, 5 other required) for the following students:
- A student who transfers to MVPS during his/her junior or senior year of study.
- The required eighteen (18) core units: five English units, four mathematics units, three science units, three social sciences units, and three foreign language units.
- The required five (5) other units: one-half unit of communication, one unit of ethics and religion, two units of music and fine arts, and one and a half units of physical education and health.
- A unit is the equivalent of one academic year of study in a discipline.
Note: Driver’s education is offered throughout the year. No credit is awarded.
