Students generally enjoy comparing their individual accomplishments and those of their school with their friends. These discussions usually focus on athletic contests. In addition, Mount Vernon offers various local, regional and national competitions.

The Georgia Independent Schools Association offers competition in One Act Plays, as well as in a dozen other oratorical, writing, and musical events. Our students also compete in the National Forensic League,  Model United Nations events, the Academic Bowl, and by writing national exams in the foreign languages. During 2007-2008, we will add competitions in math and in science.
