Advanced Placement, Honors, and Accelerated Programs of
Study
Overview
Annually, the MVPS Academic Council conducts a comprehensive review of the Middle School and Upper School curricula, with the focus of the evaluation based on current educational research. The overarching goal of the Academic Council is to provide a college preparatory program that is both current and relevant.
The following two-year plan outlined in the following pages was approved for inclusion in the MVPS college preparatory program after a comprehensive review of the MVPS Upper School curriculum. The plan includes the addition of three programs of study covering six disciplines: (1) Advanced Placement (AP) in the disciplines of English, fine arts, foreign languages, mathematics, science, and social studies; (2) Honors (H) in the disciplines of English, mathematics, and science; and (3) accelerated courses in the disciplines of foreign languages and mathematics.
